Finally back for another Saturday Night Wrestling time warp to 1985.
Before the intro we get footage of Manny Fernandez in slow motion.
Tony and David are at the podium to introduce us to the show and throw us to the ring.
OLE & ARN ANDERSON VS. GERALD FINDLAY & ITALIAN STALLION
Instantly the Anderson’s go after the left arm of their opponents. Great how everyone knows what they are going to do and they can still accomplish it.
Great spot with Ole Anderson mat wrestling Italian Stallion to prevent him from getting a tag.
Nice touch having Arn Anderson pull Gerald Findlay into the ring after the tag instead of just letting him enter on his own. Shows that the Anderson’s are confident and not afraid to fight anyone.
David Crockett and Tony keep putting over the NWA National Title situation.
Don’t think Stallion or Findlay have got a single piece of offense in yet.
Ole Anderson gets the submission win with the Arm bar.
Over to Tony Schiavone with Ron Garvin and his NWA National Championship belt at the podium.
He is talking about how Tully Blanchard has been challenging him to try to get a title belt. He says he is going to accept any challenge Tully brings him.
Garvin is not the best promo but not the worst either.
Back from Commercial with Tony at the podium interviewing the NWA Television Champion, Dusty Rhodes.
He is continuing the feud with the Koloff’s and talking about the Gorilla’s from Zoo’s but couldn’t find one but showed off a cage where he will put a Gorilla in to fight the Koloff’s.
MANNY FERNANDEZ VS. DOUG VINES
Another match with our resident NWA heel jobber.
Tony and David are continuing to put over the situation between the Anderson’s, Manny and Thunderbolt and talking about how great a team Manny and Thunderbolt are now even if they have only been a team for weeks.
I think Manny Fernandez is one of the few wrestlers that can compete with Abdullah the Butcher and New Jack for most messed up forehead in wrestling.
Appears there is a frat in the audience today.
Double Chop by Manny Fernandez to get the pinfall victory on Doug Vines.
Back from Commercial with the Ten Pounds of Gold, the Nature Boy Ric Flair and Tony Schiavone at the podium.
Flair calling the Anderson’s his cousins and putting them over in the feud with the National Tag Team Titles.
Flair then talks about all the top contenders for his Championship at the moment mentioning the Von Erich’s, Dusty, Tully and others that can sign his open contract as he wants to beat the best.
BOB ROOP VS. GOLDEN TERROR
I honestly don’t know who is going to win this as Terror is generally a jobber but I also haven’t heard of Bob Roop.
David and Tony seem to be putting over Bob Roop and his background so it seems he is the one likely to go over here. He does seem to be controlling most of the match.
Roop starts to go after the mask of Terror to likely follow the story David was putting over about not being able to see the reaction on Terror’s face to know if he is hurting him or not.
Shoulderbreaker into the Pinfall victory for Bob Roop.
With the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Ivan and Nikita Koloff, and Tony at the Podium to respond to Dusty Rhodes earlier.
They also put over Nikita training to take on Ric Flair.
LEE RAMSEY VS. TULLY BLANCHARD W/ BABY DOLL
Baby Doll gets is Lee Ramsey’s face before the match but then Tully does the handshake spot again. They are starting to put over that the Handshake is meant to be a false sense of respect or something.
Blanchard has a small package pin but referee is out of position to see the full pin and Blanchard gets pissed at him for not counting it.
Lee Ramsey got up after an elbow but looks like it was meant to be a series of elbows as after the next one missed he went back down and Tully continued a series of elbows to him.
Tully finally gets his slingshot suplex and then the pinfall victory.
GEORGE SOUTH VS. RON GARVIN
Garvin has his National Heavyweight Championship with him but this is not for the Championship.
Garvin continues to try pinning George South with small packages.
George South has got a couple offensive spots in but mostly Garvin so far trying to get differeny roll up pinfalls.
Surprised actually how much offense they are letting South get in on Garvin in this match when putting over Garvin being so good as the National Champion.
Garvin eventually gets the pinfall victory after an interesting standing dive.
Back to Tony at the podium to interview Paul Jones and his crew of Billy Graham, Abdullah and Barbabian to go over Valiant’s chalkboard challenge.
Paul Jones always seems like he is minutes away from having a heartattack.
Back with Nature Boy this time with both Tony and David Crockett.
Ric says he is there to scout Magnum TA who is one of his top contenders.
MAGNUM TA VS. SCOTT IRWIN – NWA UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Looks like Scott Irwin is a member of Aces and eights as he is in Jeans and full motorcycle jacket.
Irwin is taking it to Magnum right away and controlling early.
Ric Flair keeps calling Magnum, by what I assume the TA stands for, Terry Allen.
Back from commercial and they explain with one quick exception, Irwin has had control the entire break.
David, Tony and Flair are putting over how smart Irwin is for his offense as Magnum gets so many quick wins.
Magnum finally starts a comeback but once again Irwin stops it had holds on to the advantage.
Interesting that Magnum seems in the most trouble when Ric Flair is the one watching.
Magnum finally is able to get an advantage long enough to hit the Belly to Belly and get the pinfall victory.
Back to Tony to interview Tully Blanchard and Baby Doll to continue his feud to get his Television title back. He then answered Garvin’s challenge saying he will take the National and United States Titles just so he can get to Dusty and the Television Title.
Tony is once again interviewing Dusty Rhodes with his Television Championship to further his feuds including Ric Flair now. Dusty seems involved in almost every division but I assume that is because of him being booker at the time.
THE RUSSIANS (IVAN & NIKITA KOLOFF) VS. MIKE JACKSON & PAUL GARNER
Apparently the invisible gorilla in the cage is talking to Dusty Rhodes.
Mike Jackson got a little bit of offense in but has had no impact although still most get in against The Russians.
Paul Garner once again looks like he is wrestling in his long underwear and wrestling for the first time. I know he is a jobber but the dude walks like he has no clue what he is doing.
Nikita gets the pinfall victory over Garner while yelling at Dusty Rhodes.
Post match Ivan Koloff confronts Dusty Rhodes at ringside.
THUNDERBOLT PATTERSON VS. RANDY BARBER
Thunderbolt has his National Tag Team Title and Ole and Arn Anderson are at ringside to push that they want that belt to go with Ole’s.
Thunderbolt is regularly looking over at Ole and Arn at ringside.
Thunderbolt gets the pinfall victory and instantly are attacked by Ole and Arn but Manny comes out to save Thunderbolt to further the feud.
Another interview at the Podium with Ric Flair and his World Heavyweight Championship. It seems like every week he cuts a face promo, a heel promo and a tweener promo.
This time he is answering the comments that Dusty Rhodes had for him earlier.
PEZ WHATLEY VS. VERNON DEATON
I wonder if Vernon Deaton is related to Joel Deaton who has been on some NWA shows that I’ve watched from 85.
Vernon completely oversold everything Pez hit him with including shaking his head for 15 seconds after a head but from Whatley.
Whatley gets the pinfall victory after an easy match where the over selling by Deaton was very distracting. Seemed like he was having a seizure for most of the match.
David Crockett and Tony Schiavone are now going over to the footage we saw on World Wide of Jimmy Valiant using the Chalkboard with Dusty Rhodes at the Mid Atlantic Wrestling show where they announced Jimmy’s Old Lady has been banned.
We know see the footage of when Valiant got his throat hurt by Jones and his army.
RON BASS W/ J.J. DILLION VS. ROCKY KING
Bass apparently just got back from a tour in Asia where he has apparently picked up a gimmick glove that is almost a weapon to make him more dangerous.
They keep focusing on the black glove to try and determine what may make it a weapon but they keep putting it over like it is going to be a knockout weapon.
Rocky King has tried on a couple occassions but unable to get any real offense on.
Bass tries to get the easy pin without a real cover and gets pissed at the referee when King kicked out at 1.
Bass now uses the gloved hand to initiate a claw hold and gets the pin while holding down King.
Magnum TA is with Tony at the podium going over his hard fought victory and to answer the words said by Ric Flair earlier letting him know he will be coming for his title some day.
BILLY GRAHAM, THE BARBARIAN & ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER W/ PAUL JONES VS. MIKE SIMANI, GENE LIGON & RON ROSSI
A lot of confusion on where each man is to stand as Paul Jones has to keep telling the men outside to change where they are standing in the corner. There may have been a rule about where men have to stand in a 6 man tag match.
A lot of double teaming while distracting the ref by Paul Jones’ army in this one.
Gene Ligon finally able to get a tag but no different for Mike Simani who just starts getting destroyed by Billy Graham.
Abdullah drops the elbow and gets the pinfall win to end the show.
