RING OF HONOR WRESTLING SOUNDOFF OF HONOUR – JANUARY 9, 2021

We get another blast from the past this week on Ring of Honor TV.
It is of my opinion if they are going to show matches from the past, they don’t go back and show a match such as the PURE tournament Final which aired in November.
Considering the vast library ROH has, there are many matches which many have not seen or haven’t seen in so long it’s like watching it for the first time again.
With that said, please enjoy this week’s Soundoff of Honor!

20 PERSON ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER BATTLE ROYAL
Very nice reaction for the Blue Meanie as he makes his way to the ring.
The surprises keep on coming as Gangrel enters this one looking as good physically as he ever has.
Gangrel spits blood in Kenny Kings eyes before this one kicks off. King than begins to shadow box to protect himself. Funny stuff.
In with a bang and out with a whimper for our favourite vampire. Dak Draper shows off his power and launches Gangrel over the top-rope to eliminate him.
Maria Manic and Silas Young trade chops in the center of the ring. Silas hits a beautiful tilt-a-whirl back breaker on Maria. With a little help from Bully Ray, Maria has been eliminated by Silas.
Bully Ray isn’t done and hits a huge Bubba bomb on the ManEater through a table! Super fun stuff.
DanHausen and Delirious broker a deal only for DanHausen to hit a great looking pump kick and pitches Delirious to the outside.
DanHausen is on fire and looks prime to win this win. Unfortunately Silas Young reverses him and out he goes.
Cheese Burger has Silas teetering, but his best buddy Josh Woods intervenes and out goes the burger boy.
Our final 4 is Josh Woods, Silas Young, Hot Sauce and Dragon Brian Lee.
Two Guys one tag continue to dominate. Some very nice tandem offence on Hot Sauce and out he goes.
Woods and Young have Lee reeling on the apron, but a ill timed kick by Woods sends out Silas!
Lee takes advantage of the confusion and out goes Josh Woods! Dragon Lee wins!
Not so fast, Kenny King has been hiding all along and Lee goes over the top rope!
Kenny King celebrates his upcoming title shot! Lee skins the cat and bye, bye Kenny King!
Dragon Lee unmasks! It’s Flip Gordon! Such a great finish!
WINNER: Flip “Dragon-Lee” Gordon!

RUSH VS. PCO VS. MARK HASKINS – ROH WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
RUSH has a hilarious evil laugh after PCO misses the moonsault from the top to the outside.
Haskins and RUSH trade some stiff strikes. Haskins takes control and hits a double-stomp of the top onto RUSH for a near-fall.
RUSH baits PCO in with some trash talk and hits a thunderous belly to belly suplex on PCO.
PCO guzzles HAskins and plants him with a choke-slam! PCO hits the PCO-sault and it’s over.
RUSH pulls Todd out of the ring inches from counting the 3 count!
While Sinclair is dealing with RUSH, Nick Aldis smashes 10-pounds of gold into PCO’s head!
Nick Aldis powders out leaving RUSH with an opportunity to finish PCO with the “Bulls Horns”
RUSH gets all of it and we have a New ROH HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP!
WINNER: “NEW” RING OF HONOR HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP – RUSH (PINFALL)

TRACY WILLIAMS VS. JONATHAN GRESHAM – ROH PURE CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT FINAL
This match quickly spills to the outside and starts off hot!
All is well again as Tracy helps Gresham back into the ring like a perfect gentleman.
Nice dead-lift style suplex by Gresham on Williams. Williams quickly cuts him off with strikes. Williams controlling nearly all of the action so far.
Hot Sauce locks in a cross-face and transitions to a nasty looking neck-crank but Gresham gets to the ropes.
Gresham fires up with multiple running forearms but only gets a near fall.
Williams spikes Gresham with a pile-driver. Gresham uses his remaining rope-break to stay alive.
Gresham counters a Williams chop by locking in the Octopus Stretch. Looks like Williams arm almost came out of socket.
Williams no choice but to tap-out. Johnathan Gresham has captured the PURE championship.
WINNER: “NEW” Ring of Honor PURE Champion – Johnathan Gresham (SUBMISSION)
