Is there any way to open without the mandatory recap of events from last week?
Great to get a close up of the Dusty Cup before the start of the show.
SHOTZI BLACKHEART VS. CANDICE LERAE W/ INDI HARTWELL
Tank Commander Blackheart? Really? As if she was not annoying enough.
The idea it is normal that referee’s are positioned in a way that allows heels to interfere on the outside needs to change. Makes them look stupid and is a creative crutch.
Ends up being all Candice during the picture in picture commercial break but Shotzi gains control just as we return.
Not the best angle on the Tope Suicida by Shotzi on Candice and Indi. Indi looks like she just falls over on her own. Replay didn’t look better from the other angle though.
Indi “distracts” Shotzi although it looks like she fully hit Shotzi allowing Candice to swing Shotzi off the top turnbuckle and get the pinfall victory.
Finn Balor is walking backstage getting ready to head to the arena.
Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch pull up outside and same something not easily heard to the camera that happened to be outside. They appear to be heading towards the ring as well.
Finn says he put down Kyle once again and now he is the one in the hospital with a bad jaw. He also says the red x on his shirt because he knows he is a target.
Finn says if anyone wants to step up… Pete Dunne’s music hits and he comes out with the boys.
Pete Dunne says Finn is not the poster boy of European Wrestler. He says he is not waiting in line and the boys attack.
Finn Balor is able to hold his own until Pete Dunne targets the arm. Kyle is apparently as bad as Finn suggested as he hits the ring to help but the Boys don’t retreat until Cole and Strong join the party.
Finn has a stare down with the UE after the Boys have been chased to the ramp.
Johnny Gargano is being interviewed by himself and he puts over Shotzi losing to Candice earlier and says he’s going to beat Lumis tonight.
Theory shows up behind Johnny with a gift from Dexter Lumis who Theory is just calling him the Guy. Just some drawings showing Johnny crying and Theory as an idiot.
GRIZZLED YOUNG VETERANS (ZACK GIBSON & JAMES DRAKE) VS. EVER-RISE (MATT MARTEL & CHASE PARKER) – 2021 DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC FIRST ROUND MATCH
Can’t go wrong with Zack Gibson cutting a promo to a match. These guys were my picks to win until I saw the bracket.
William Regal is on the screen to officially start the tournament.
Great spot with Zack Gibson calming James Drake down after Ever-Rise start to get under his skin to throw him off the game. Great way to show the ring smarts of GYV.
Ever-Rise has got a lot more offence in than I expected and even got a two count on Drake only for Gibson to break it up in time.
Ticket to Mayhem from Grizzled Young Veterans and Gibson is able to get the pin on Martel to advance to the Semi Finals.
Post Match, the winners check out the trophy before we see the updated brackets.
Video package going over the fallout of the Last Women Standing match last week between Rhea and Raquel.
Raquel says she is looking at Io and the NXT Women’s Championship. Great piece to help add to Raquel’s momentum.
Shotzi Blackheart is now being interviewed about her lose but she says she needs a partner for the Women’s Dusty Classic. Ember Moon comes in to reveal she will be Shotzi’s partner.
JOHNNY GARGANO W/ AUSTIN THEORY VS. DEXTER LUMIS
Johnny has the picture of him that Dexter made of him and rips it up in the face of Johnny enrages Dexter who takes it to him to start the match.
Love the work from Dexter Lumis when he slithers out of the ring and tumbles perfectly out of the ring and kips up after the kick attempt from Johnny.
Lumis goes for the Silence but Gargano is able to fight it off immediately and turn the following struggle in a crucifix pin attempt but only a two.
Great facial expression from Gargano in response to the crazy looks from Dexter.
Theory interferes but Lumis makes him pay for it by stomping on his hands. Johnny is also not able to capitalize and Lumis gets The Silence on.
Lumis goes for the Silence on Theory after he tries to interfere again this time allowing Johnny to roll up Lumis for the pinfall victory.
Post match, Lumis slithers and stalks Theory and locks on The Silence until Gargano puts the boots to Lumis.
Johnny goes and grabs a chair but Kushida comes out for the save to help the build to the first round match. Kushida lets Johnny know he wants a shot at the North American Championship.
Backstage Dunne, Lorcan and Burch are being asked about what happened earlier. They said they still run the place because everyone is fighting for a shot at their tag titles.
Dunne says Kyle put his way in between him and the NXT Title so they are going to take him out.
From earlier today we see Thatcher and Ciampa being interviewed by Wade Barrett. Thatcher won’t let on what the Kayfabe injury was that prevented the match happening last week.
Ciampa says he called out Thatcher because he was taking liberties with students and is a piece of garbage.
Thatcher says Ciampa looks like a guy who is questioning whether he still has it or not.
Undisputed Era, minus Fish, is being interviewed if people are going to come after them now after earlier. They said bring it on and they’re going to win their first round match tonight.
JAKE ATLAS & ISAIAH SCOTT VS. MSK (WES LEE & NASH CARTER) – 2021 DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC FIRST ROUND MATCH
Interesting to see how much The former Rascalz come off the same in NXT as they did in Impact. Dez is Wes Lee and Wentz is Nash Carter.
Do we expect to see MSK do many pot smoking references if any at all?
There is no way the feuding Atlas and Scott are getting the win here, right? You can’t have the debuting team lose, right?
Interesting to see Scott take the shot for Atlas showing him be a team player. I honestly suspected he would just feed Atlas to the wolves to push their story.
I literally had JUST remembered who was Dez and who was Wentz so it will take me more time now to remember their new names.
I have to love hearing Vic Joseph and the commentators going wild for double team moves from MSK that we’ve been watching them do in Impact for a while now.
Really great teamwork and double team moves from Atlas and Swerve that I really do hope they keep them as a team now. Could be beneficial to both men.
MSK hit their double team move allowing Carter to get the pinfall victory over Swerve to advance to the Quarter Finals.
Post match, MSK admire the Dusty Cup while Atlas and Swerve yell at each other in the ring about the outcome of the match.
They are now revealing some of the teams for the Women’s Dusty Classic which is starting next week.
Next week we see Kacy & Kayden taking on Mercedes Martinez & Toni Storm.
Video package hyping a Xia Li match coming up next showing highlights of last week.
Scarlett is now giving us a video promo as a Tarot reader telling us about how they took out Damian Priest and Finn Balor is next.
XIA LI W/ BOA VS. UNKNOWN TALENT
Do you like Xia Li’s new prematch routine or her old one with the fan?
They don’t even give the poor girl a name as Xia hits her with a right then a spinning kick and it is over.
Post match, the creepy lady makes a hand signal and Xia destroys her multiple times.
Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter are talking about how if they win next week they make history as the first women to win a match in the ladies Dusty Classic.
During the commercial we see Atlas and Swerve being held back leading to Swerve and Bronson Reed getting in each others faces.
BREEZANGO (TYLER BREEZE & FANDANGO) VS. UNDISPUTED ERA (ADAM COLE & RODERICK STRONG) W/ KYLE O’REILLY – 2021 DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC FIRST ROUND MATCH
They’re playing up on commentary that Kyle is not medically cleared to be out here because of the Jaw injury he suffered during the Finn match last week.
They mention that Adam Cole is the only person in the whole tournament to have won before. They are thus claiming not all of UE get credit for that win.
Bad joke from Wade about the Cup marks on the back of Tyler Breeze being there to remember Dusty Rhodes since they look like Polka Dots.
Great camera work when Strong does his series of Forearms along the ropes. The quick cuts were so crisp.
Dunne and Boys come out and Kyle fights them head on but he is no match as they set Kyle up against the Steel Support but Finn Balor comes down.
Dunne is still able to get to O’Reilly and kick his jaw against the Barricade.
Cole gets distracted allowing Breezango to get an advantage but Fandango flies down into a Superkick from Cole for the win.
Post match, Cole goes right to Kyle O’Reilly on the outside who appears to have bit down on some blood capsules.
Show ends with the sides staring each other down with Dunne and the Champs standing tall.
