Time for catching up with NXT from Last Night which I hear may have a few surprises.
Recap of the quick evolution from enemies to partners for Ciampa and Thatcher after the Fight Pit.
KILLIAN DAIN & DRAKE MAVERICK VS. MSK (NASH CARTER & WES LEE) – DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC QUARTER FINAL MATCH
At least the question of whether Trey Miguel would join MSK in NXT at some point was answered on Tuesday.
Should be interesting to see who gets the win here since both teams seem to be getting pushed as they develop in NXT.
MSK are going to have to get some practice in using the tag rope. It is not supposed to count if you tag in using the hand you were using to hold the tag rope.
Dain in control over the FKA Dez as we come back from the commercial break.
Carter hits the Moonsault on Maverick after Wes Lee pushes him midair.
Blockbuster from MSK on Drake Maverick and Carter gets the pinfall victory on Maverick to move on to the semi-finals. Well both my picks for the finals are now out.
Earlier today we see Pete Dunne do his best impersonation of Trent’s Mom, Sue, by dropping off Lorcan and Burch “earlier today” for their match tonight.
Video package promoting the team of Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez and their opponents of Aaliyah and Jessi Kamea of the Robert Stone Brand.
Curt Stallion is seen earlier today in an interview segment to let the NXT fans know more about him.
He says that when he wins the NXT Interim Cruiserweight Championship he will be a star.
JESSI KAMEA & ALIYAH W/ ROBERT STONE VS. DAKOTA KAI & RAQUEL GONZALEZ – WOMEN DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Love that they are letting Raquel and Dakota get their own entrances for this one. Shows how much they are getting behind Raquel Gonzalez.
Aliyah and Jessi Kamea do a double team move where they both do splits forcing Dakota to leap over both. Appears they’ve been preparing for this moment.
Great camera shot with Dakota Kai coming from off screen to deliver her running kick to Aliyah in the corner.
Gonzalez chokeslams Kamea to get the pinfall victory in a match that wasn’t ever really close.
Post match, Robert Stone is not looking happy at his brand’s roster.
Backstage, The Way are being interviewed about Candice and Indi about their first round win match last week.
Theory has to explain why we don’t say Kushida or the curse. Dexter Lumis was apparently behind the curtain the whole time.
Scarlett is back in a video package to read tarot cards to let us know what Karrion Kross will do next.
She says everyone needs to stay on their path or HE will have to alter his.
We see that Tegan Nox is working with Brie Larson in a series on Youtube showing training as Nox recovers and rehabs.
TYLER RUST W/ MALCOLM BIVENS VS. DANTE RIOS
We are told during a picture in picture interview from earlier that Bivens selected this opponent for Rust.
Match seems like it is going to be Rust thinking this guy is below him and will complain to Bivens. We will see as it develops.
Stallion is working over the arm doing the classic stomp on the 90 degree twisted arm of Rios.
Rust locks on a double arm butterfly to get the submission victory.
Post match, Rust and Bivens become the new million dollar man taunt by taking a Selfie together over the defeated Rios.
Video package putting over the Grizzled Young Veterans and Kushida & Ruff who are facing off next in the Dusty Classic.
Finn is about to be interviewed about the tag team match but Kyle O’Reilly comes in to have a face to face to make sure they can trust each other tonight.
GRIZZLED YOUNG VETERANS (ZACK GIBSON & JAMES DRAKE) VS. KUSHIDA & LEON RUFF – DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Anyone else notice that the commentators only said “Kushida’s Time Splitters Tag Team Partner” and not Alex Shelley?
Ruff looked like he almost wasn’t able to pull off his bouncing ropes spot. Looked like he almost slipped twice.
Very close with Ruff getting a two count on Gibson just before the commercial break.
Back from commercial with Ruff getting a pinfall attempt on Drake this time.
Doesn’t make me confident about the result when the only offence GYV have been getting decisively has happened during the break.
Every time Grizzled Young Veterans get in some offence within seconds it is countered by Kushida or Ruff.
Kushida kicks out at the very last millisecond after a doomsday device from Grizzled Young Veteran.
Hot tag to Ruff leads him to sending Drake into the commentator table and landing on Gibson on the other side of the ring.
Ticket to Mayhem from Grizzled Young Veterans and they get the pinfall to thankfully advance to the semi finals.
Post match, The Way run down to attack Kushida who is still in the ring. Theory then makes Leon Ruff watch Gargano beat down Kushida but Dexter Lumis appears behind Theory.
Theory and Gargano back off as Lumis stares them out of the ring.
Backstage, Stallion is being looked at and he says Legado did this. This leads to Stallion not being able to compete in his title match tonight.
Regal busts into Legado Del Fantasma being interviewed saying he knows it was them and the match is now next week.
An ace is laying on the bag of Escobar with the message End is Near.
Toni Storm is now making her way down to the ring to cut a promo on Io Shirai. She wants to take the belt from her because Io took away the Dusty Classic from her.
Io doesn’t waste time and she comes on out to face off with Toni and grabs the microphone from her. Io says she already said she would face her anytime.
They brawl with Toni storm leaving the ring and Mercedes hitting Io from behind. Mercedes grabs the belt but Toni takes it from her leading to Io coming back in.
In the end Toni Storm is the one left standing holding the NXT Women’s Championship.
Swerve is being interviewed about him getting in the face of Bronson Reed last week before his match.
Swerve says everyone wants to point a finger at him but points out the old saying of three fingers pointing back.
Video promo now for Imperium, minus Walter about being isolated in different parts of the world. They talk about how Walter has ruled as UK Champion and they have been NXT Tag Team Champions.
Wolfe says his arrival is only the beginning hinting we will be seeing Walter again soon.
Strong and Cole are being interviewed about facing Ciampa and Thatcher next week. They say they are better at being a team and that, is undisputed.
ISAIAH SCOTT VS. BRONSON REED
So glad they had Bronson Reed take that stupid little lizard thing off his outfit.
Great spot at the start with swerve doing basically a handstand after being tossed over the top rope and lands on his feet on the outside.
Not as sweet when Reed takes the feet out of Scott while on the hardest part of the ring and Swerve almost snaps his neck.
Nice to see a guy like Bronson Reed hit an actual Tope Suicida.
Great counter to the flatlines of Swerve by Reed just swatting Swerve out of the air.
450 Splash from Swerve but Reed is somehow able to kick out before the three.
Swerve gets in the face of Reed saying it his house but gets head butted before Reed hits the Tsunami to get the pinfall victory.
Ciampa is in his dark corner letting us know about the fights you lose, win and remember. Thatcher comes in sits next to Ciampa and tells us how the Fight Pit changes people.
KYLE O’REILLY & FINN BALOR VS. DANNY BURCH & ONEY LORCAN
All about talking about Kyle’s Jaw to start the match. Commentary are putting over he is cleared but still have to be in pain.
Lots of stare downs between Kyle and Finn before the first commercial break as they have control over the tag team champions.
Back from commercial with Burch and Lorcan in control of Finn Balor in their own corner.
Really glad to hear Barrett mention that O’Reilly was totally not reaching as far as he could as he wasn’t even stretched out.
Kyle finally does get the hot tag though and takes on both Burch and Lorcan but Burch keeps aiming his attack on the jaw of Kyle.
Kyle catches the leg of Burch who was trying to dropkick Kyle in the jaw and Kyle gets the submission victory.
Post match, Kyle and Finn are talking back and forth but Dunne shows up and we have a three on two brawl.
Strong and Cole make their way to the ring but Dunne and the Champs leave and Finn is alone in ring with the Undisputed Era.
Finn slowly backs up and stands in line with the rest of Undisputed Era before backing out of the ring.
