Back with Jim Smallman welcoming us wearing the same clothes he did on Night One.
He has made a list of all the places where people have come from including Scotland, Poland, Japan, Australia and Canada among others.
Jim apologized for not mentioning America since it is the most important country. We are then drawn to four empty seats as four guys were in full Cena fan gear.
We now get to find out from those who weren’t here on Night One why they were not there. Barry from Scotland got over then got booed for saying he’s from Scotland. Couple other funny interactions.
AEROSTAR VS. DAGA
Said it for Night One, Aerostar just makes me think of Max Moon. That is not good to remind people of the worse version of Konnan.
Apparently we get to see losers from Night One face off.
Going to be honest upfront, have little to no interest in either of these two.
Daga gets over as the heel after refusing the handshake offered by Aerostar.
Very Lucha spot with Aerostar avoiding Daga by circling the ring doing repeated flips. Great spot at the end with Daga just Superkicking Aerostar.
Daga going after the mask of Aerostar for some more heel heat.
Aerostar’s Trust Fall off the top turnbuckle is much better looking than Darby’s Coffin Drop.
There are a LOT of points in this match where it is obvious they are waiting for the other to hit a move.
Big Splash from Aerostar who gets the pinfall victory over Daga.
Post match, Aerostar offers his hand to Daga one more time which Daga accepts this time.
KYLE FLETCHER W/ MARK DAVIS VS. JORDAN DEVLIN – SUPER STRONG STYLE 16 QUARTER FINAL MATCH
I am still undecided how I feel about the PROGRESS Tag Team Championships design. They’re weird but kind of like them.
Loved that Fletcher made fans move in the front row even though they didn’t do a spot on to those chairs.
Fletcher is controlling most of the match right now to the surprise of most. Fletcher even caught Devlin trying to hit his slingshot cutter. Nice to see Devlin able to still pull off the move the second time.
Devlin setting up Fletcher for the top rope Spanish Fly but Fletcher fights it off so Devlin goes for another slingshot Cutter but gets nothing but air.
Beautiful Irish Destroyer followed by a great Moonsault off the top rope by Devlin but only gets a two count on Fletcher.
Both men are repeatedly countering each other until Fletcher can hit a tombstone piledriver on Devlin with Jordan JUST kicking out before three. Crowd give them a standing ovation at this point.
Devlin is able to get the pinfall after both men collapse and Devlin happened to collapse on Fletcher.
Post match, both men are given ice packs to put over the hard hitting nature of the match.
Looks like we have a lucha mask for the same referee as Night One who now has to do a 619 after saying he could on twitter. He goes sack first into the middle rope.
TREVOR LEE VS. ILJA DRAGUNOV – SUPER STRONG STYLE 16 QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Trevor Lee doesn’t seem to be happy with the curse filled chant of the crowd telling Ilja to beat up Lee.
Funny moment during the introduction when Trevor Lee throws away his water bottle and it lands perfectly on the mat and the crowd go crazy.
Trevor Lee grabs a microphone to tell the crowd he deserves a better reaction. Calls himself a shoot badass for his Bottle landing.
Ilja starts to lose it after Trevor Lee says Ilja doesn’t work for the good part of NXT like he does.
Lee says they already have jobs and don’t have to impress the marks in the audience. Triple H doesn’t want to see them get hurt.
Trevor Lee asks for a handshake to start the match while he is holding his jacket, we know what that will lead to. Well not quiet. He throws the jacket in the ref’s face and low blows Ilja instead.
Ilja is able to recover and make quick work of Lee hitting Torpedo Moscow and getting the pinfall victory. Good quick match to give the crowd a great moment.
JINNY W/ LAURA DI MATTEO VS. SESSION MOTH MARTINA – PROGRESS WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP FOUR WAY ON NIGHT THREE QUALIFICATION MATCH
Session Moth Martina is basically the female version of Grado, right? She is partying by herself in the empty area between sections of the crowd.
Huge Spear from Session Moth Martina to start the match and she is taking it to Jinny hard. Taking her to the outside and sending Jinny into the ringpost.
Laura Di Matteo gets involved by bringing down Jinny but she gets suplexed by Martina instead. This of course is enough for Jinny to get the advantage.
What an amazing sell job from Jinny on the back cracker by Martina.
Laura Di Matteo is able to pull Jinny to the ropes to break the Boston Crab from Martina then Martina is able to kick out easily after a low blow from Jinny.
After a wicked Code breaker from Martina, Matteo once again gets on the mat to interfere. Martina is able to overcome everything and roll up Jinny to get the pinfall victory and take the spot in tomorrow night’s match.
Post match, Jinny raises the arm of Session Moth Martina in a sign of respect and gives her a hug.
Martina then leaves and gives Jinny a moment in the ring. Seems this was meant to be her good bye heading to NXT UK even though we know she appears regularly for them still.
We see a promo highlighting showing the feud Jimmy Havoc is having with Drew Parker’s stable. I assume that this is the promo to push the next 8 man tag match.
DO NOT RESUSCITATE (WILLIAM EAVER, SPIKE TRIVER, DREW PARKER & CHUCK MAMBO) VS. JIMMY HAVOC, MARK ANDREWS, EL LIGERO & MARK HASKINS W/ VICKY HASKINS – 8 MAN TAG TEAM NO DQ MATCH
Eddie Dennis is introduced as the guest commentator for this match since he was not medically cleared to be in the match.
Do Not Resuscitate must feel stupid knowing it only took the #metoo movement to rid Progress of two of the four they’re facing.
Lots of dives to start as the actions spreads out the arena.
Not a huge fan of this deathmatch hardcore style match up. Only going to stick with it because of Eddie Dennis on Commentary.
Great work from the Commentary to let us all know the history between the opponents but also the teammates.
Vintage Havoc with running the ropes before just stopping and poking the eyes of two members of DNR.
Here come the tables thanks to Ligero and Haskins on the outside.
Interesting to hear the possible future for both these teams with Havoc apparently heading to AEW after this weekend and Parker going to Japan.
Vicky Haskins stops the Faces and goes under the ring to hand each of them a barbed wire bat.
Parker was about to walk off when it becomes four on one but Vicky stops him in the entrance way. Parker holds off long enough for DNR to rescue him.
They need to not do the spots of throwing chairs at the head of those on the top turnbuckle as it looks terrible when the person taps it with their arm but sells it like they got hurt enough to fall.
Vicky gets in the ring and when Triver tries to attack her but she puts him in an armbar and Mark hits him repeatedly with a barbed wire bat.
Mambo eventually comes in and stomps on Vicky to get the hold broke and starts to take her up the entrance ramp. Mark comes to stop it but gets taken out on the entrance ramp. Mambo spits in the face of Eddie Dennis at the commentary booth and he chases Mambo back to the ring and gets surrounded by DNR in the ring.
Mark Andrews jumps in the ring to go back to back with Eddie and they clear the ring to the pleasure of the crowd.
Poor Mambo as the table Haskins tries to put him through doesn’t break and just collapses. That has to hurt.
Havoc gets the pinfall victory pinning Drew Parker while the others stop anyone from breaking up the pin.
Post match, the veterans celebrate in the ring as the young DNR stable mates head to the back.
KYLE O’REILLY VS. PAUL ROBINSON – SUPER STRONG STYLE 16 QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Knowing both of these two guys style, this is going to be one hell of a match. Likely to compete with Devlin and Fletcher for match of the night.
Like all typical Paul Robinson matches, he spends 15 minutes before it starts getting the crowd all heated.
Paul Robinson not happy with the kick to his leg from Kyle to start things off. He’s not used to guys with killed leg strength.
Kyle sits down and waits for Paul who gives him a middle finger salute and leaves the ring.
A lot more comedy in this one than I’d expect from these two but it is working so far.
O’Reilly is just knocking Robinson off him every time Robinson tries to put a hold on him. Kyle was just standing there letting him try the holds. Being unable to capitalize pisses Robinson off.
Robinson attempts his Diving Spear but Kyle catches him in a Guillotine Submission.
What an insane head scissors to Kyle from Robinson off the top turnbuckle but only able to get a two count after hitting the Robinson Special.
Robinson taps out after O’Reilly counters the step up stomp and locks on the Leg Lock.
Post match, Jimmy Havoc’s music hits and he comes out while Robinson is still in the ring. He says he wants his last match to be tomorrow night against Paul in a death match.
TRAVIS BANKS VS. DAVID STARR – SUPER STRONG STYLE 16 QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Banks coming out showing he is wearing a David Starr Independent T Shirt. This is going to be a match between two guys who no longer exist.
Quick start with Banks taking it right to Starr as he comes down the entranceway.
Neither man is getting much control in this one as it is going back and forth with both even getting some no sells in.
Banks’ double stomp in the corner doesn’t come off as awesome as normal here because he seems to just slide off of Starr.
We get a double pin from Banks and Starr which the ref counts both. Jim gets on the mic saying this is a tournament, we need a winner, ring the bell and let’s get back on.
Slice of Heaven from Travis Banks but Starr is able to kick out at the last second.
The men have fought up to the entrance ramp now that they know a winner has to happen as the referee is not counting either out.
The referee changes his mind and starts counting both men out. There is no way they can do a double countout as well, can they? Yup, they can.
Post bell, the two men are still going as they are being pulled apart. Looks like they are going with both men apparently eliminated?
Jim finally gets on the microphone saying since they can’t stop, they are both out of the tournament but if they calm down and stop now, tomorrow they will make the semi with Ilja tomorrow a triple threat.
DJ Z, ARTEMIS SPENCER & CHRIS BROOKES VS. DARBY ALLIN, LUCKY KID & CHRIS RIDGEWAY – LUCHA RULES SIX MAN TAG TEAM MATCH
Brookes, DJ Z and Spencer look nothing like a team. I know it is just a random six man to get people on the show, but still.
Funny that this is billed as a Lucha Rules match when none are really Lucha guys with DJ Z being the closest to one.
Nice to hear that the teams were actually decided based on the brackets they lost in yesterday.
DJ Z made sure his payments to the sound guy was up to date earlier as he is able to get his horn sound to go off mid match again.
Interesting spot with Lucky Kid and Chris Brookes with Brookes taking advantage of Lucky Kid’s loyalty but Lucky Kid stands tall from the exchange.
Interesting spot with Brookes using the head of Lucky Kid to low blow Darby Allin.
Love that Brookes teases a move over the top rope to the outside after everyone else did but he slides out and throws on a choke on Artemis instead.
Nice spot with Brookes, Spencer and DJ Z hit moves off the same top turnbuckle before doing a triple pin but no one is able to get the pinfall.
What great height from DJ Z who was basically tossed by his partners using the middle rope. Sweet move.
Darby uses the skateboard while the ref is being held and Ridgeway is able to get a submission victory on Artemis with the ankle lock.
TRENT SEVEN VS. WALTER – PROGRESS WORLD & ATLAS DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP UNIFICATION MATCH
Both belts are held up with only one belt getting held up again.
All mat wrestling to start the match but Trent Seven is unable to keep Walter down on the mat and stay in control.
Walter tells Trent Seven to go ahead and push him some more and then hits Seven from behind as the ref tries to pull Seven back.
Great selling from Walter after he chops the ring post when Seven moves out of the way.
Walter is in complete control now as the fans chant Walter’s theme song.
Really like it when wrestlers sell an injury or a sore body part when they have to regain their footing on the ropes. Helps sell the match as well as hide them trying to get that better footing.
Chop for Chop between Walter and Seven as Seven just keeps getting back up and dishing out strikes back to Walter. Seven eventually gets the best and both men are exhausted falling down.
Great no sell moments from Seven. He makes them so much better by almost collapsing after the no sell showing it is more just giving everything in the tank.
Referee has been knocked out after Walter pushes Seven away from him out of the corner. Walter wastes no time to grab the belts and throw them in the ring.
Fans chanting for it to be fought with honor leads to Walter flipping off the audience. Ref gets back up with Seven being the only one with a belt in hand.
Walter hits a boot and locks Seven into his choke with Seven’s arm falling twice but not a third time much to the delight of the crowd.
Seven’s foot is on the rope but the ref doesn’t see it and Seven drops his hand leading to the ref calling the match.
Walter knocks Seven’s leg off the rope before the referee can see it.
