PROGRESS CHAPTER 104: NATURAL PROGRESSION SOUNDOFF – FEBRUARY 20, 2021

Chapter 104 brings us the return after almost a year without Progress Wrestling. Cara Noir defends the World Title in the Main Event against Dan Moloney.

Great opening to give us a quick idea of the guys in the Natural Progression tournament. Kid Lykos II is the only name I am familiar with.

We are welcomed at the announce table since there is no audience for anyone to work off of. They say they can’t do this alone and they need a host. The Music of Roy Johnson hits and he comes out.
Roy says everything feels new with a new venue, new commentary team and new host.

GENE MUNNY VS. SPIKE TRIVET VS. OMARI VS. CHRIS RIDGEWAY – PROGRESS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERS FATAL FOUR WAY MATCH
Spike Trivet is coming off as a British version of Triple H. Yes, I meant that. Dude has a great stare though. No psychotic version of Lumis.
Omari is like the body shape of Eddie Dennis. Tall and slanky.
Spike and Munny are sent to the outside immediately and it is Ridgeway and Omari giving a mat wrestling clinic in the ring.
Really liked the move from Gene Munny with him pulling himself up out of the corner before flopping down on Spike.
Beautiful crossbody from Omari on Gene Munny. Omaris appeared to almost float in the air for a split second.
Omari springs off the top rope and does a great stomp to the back of Ridgeway who was trying to get Trivet to tap to an anklelock.
Guys like Gene Munny are the ones who are going to shine in our current no fan environment. So much charisma in the match even without a mic. More need to yell at their opponents in the ring.
Ridgeway gets the pinfall victory on Gene Munny after knocking him out with a stiff PK Kick. Solid opener to restablish Chris Ridgeway.

Millie McKenzie gives us a quick video promo about her coming for the Women’s Championship.

Interview time with Dan Moloney about Cara Noir not making him tap out in their last meeting. He says it won’t happen again.

MAN LIKE DEREISS VS. LUKE JACOBS – NATURAL PROGRESSION SERIES QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Man Like Dereiss is pretty much if you took The Acclaimed and Bad Bunny and put them in the Body of a British guy.
Luke Jacobs looks a LOT like Bryan Danielson circa 2004.
Really good basic mat wrestling match so far. Nothing special but nothing bad either.
Nobody home for the 450 from Dereiss allowing Jacobs to hit a massive Lariat but only a two count before Dereiss kicks out.
A second Lariat from Jacobs out of no where gets the pinfall victory over Dereiss sending Jacobs to the Semi Finals.

Mercedez Blaze gives us her reasons for being the Women’s Champion in a video promo.

KID LYKOS II VS. ETHAN ALLEN – NATURAL PROGRESSION SERIES QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Ethan Allen is the tag partner of Luke Jacobs who won the last match. Could be a partner vs. partner match up if Allen wins this one.
Bad camera angle but interesting spot with Lykos II kicking Allen who was going for the leapfrog.
These guys are hitting each other HARD. Much harder than you’d expect from guys the size of these two.
What a sick submission from Allen holding all the limbs of Lykos forcing Kid Lykos to use his teeth to bite the rope.
Allen pulls Lykos into the middle of the ring and destroyed him with kicks until the referee stopped the match.

It is time for Lana Austin to us why she is going to win the match and go to win the Women’s Championship.

MILLIE MCKENZIE VS. MERCEDEZ BLAZE
Before we start Mercedez Blaze gets on the microphone letting Millie know she is not part of Blaze’s plan going into the big match at Chapter 105.
Millie takes the microphone from Blaze, taps it then just kicks Blaze and we’re a go.
Millie McKenzie moves like she is a seasoned veteran in the ring but Blaze moves like she is slightly better than Dana Brooke.
Mille McKenzie is able to get the eventual pinfall victory after a struggle between the two.

Quick video transition to let us know that Jordan Breaks is coming to Progress.

Alexxis Falcon then gets a quick video promo to put over her involvement in the match at Chapter 105.

ELIJAH VS. DANNY BLACK – NATURAL PROGRESSION SERIES QUARTER FINAL MATCH
I know a lot of these competitors are fresh out of wrestling school but why do most of them look like they are 16?
British wrestling is a great example of how you can have hard hitting mat wrestling with some high flying moves added in without looking like a spot fest.
Danny Black is exhausted after giving it his all and still only getting a two count on Elijah.
Graveyard Smash is interesting looking move from Elijah. A Swinging sitout powerbomb, sort of.
Danny Black hits the Power of Black to get the pinfall victory to get the win and move on to the Semi Finals.
Post match, Elijah establishes himself as a full heel and attacks Danny Black before walking to the back.

Another video promo, this one is for Taonga and why she thinks she is winning at Chapter 105.

WARREN BANKS VS. BIG GUNS JOE – NATURAL PROGRESSION SERIES QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Not sure what to make of Big Guns Joe. Guy seems jacked but is still so small you can’t take him seriously acting like he is the biggest guy in the world.
Great work from Warren Banks to put over the moves from Big Guns Joe to help put over his characters strength.
What a freaking great spear from Banks to get the pinfall victory and advance to the Semi Finals.

We get Kanji telling us how she is starting a revolution to promote her involvement in the match at Chapter 105.

CHUCK MAMBO VS. KID LYKOS
The Return of Kid Lykos, not the Kid Lykos II we saw earlier, is here after he is been gone from Progress for 22 Months.
Mambo makes me think of a mixture between Ember Moon and Chuck Taylor with maybe a little Bobcat Goldwaith.
Cool combination from Kid Lykos on Mambo hitting a kick to the face in the corner followed by a bulldog into a knee.
Casanova from Kid Lykos that looked more like Mambo got a face full of Lykos’ junk.
Brainbuster from Kid Lykos but still unable to put Mambo away as Chuck kicks out with almost a slight bit of authority after the two.
Kid Lykos II has hit the ring allowing Kid Lykos to take out a sign and hit Mambo with it.
Blood Moon is locked in by Kid Lykos to get the submission victory.
Post match, Lykos and Lykos II celebrate the victory.

Giselle Shaw reminding everyone she should be next in line for the women’s championship and not having to fight for it at Chapter 105.

Time for us to get our usual great artsy video package for the Progress World Champion, Cara Noir. It does a great job to go over his backstory in Progress.

DAN MOLONEY VS. CARA NOIR – PROGRESS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Really glad to see that Cara Noir’s entrance is just as great without a crowd as it is with one. Great theatre needs a great story and a great performer, an audience is only there to pay witness to the greatness.
Moloney does an funny bit during his introduction mocking our Host for reading everything off of his phone.
How does Cara Noir get that much glitter off of himself at the end of the day?
Funny spot with both men running the ropes with Moloney stopping after only a couple times and Cara just keeps going to piss off Moloney.
Dan Moloney is really taking it to Cara Noir leading to Cara Noir to drop the fun and games and get serious telling Moloney to bring it.
Some REALLY good selling from Dan Moloney in this one. Especially when Cara Noir dropkicked him into the turnbuckles.
Great counter from Cara Noir after Dan took too long to go for the finish.
Cara Noir hits a piledriver before locking in the submission but the ref calls for the bell instantly as Moloney is out cold after the Piledriver. Cara has defended successfully to being the new Era!
