IMPACT WRESTLING’S REBELLION SOUNDOFF – APRIL 25, 2021

Impact Wrestling presents their annual Rebellion PPV headlined this year by a Title vs. Title match between the AEW World Champion and the Impact World Champion.

Really liked the opening of the PPV. Much better than anything with a Poppy soundtrack.
We then get Rich and Kenny coming in earlier today respectively.

TJP VS. JOSH ALEXANDER VS. ACE AUSTIN W/ MADMAN FULTON – X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLE THREAT MATCH
Did Ace Austin actually think that it was a good idea to tell the other to start off against each other?
Great counter from Ace Austin when Alexander tried to trip him up on the second hardest part of the ring.
Austin looking really strong early on but pulls put the card to use only to have Hebner take it away for some reason when it is no DQ in a triple threat.
Crazy spot with Alexander stopping Austin from Suplexing TJP and ends up hit a side Russian leg sweep on Ace and suplex on TJP off the turnbuckles.
Josh Alexander breaks up the pinfall by TJP after he hit a Mamba Splash on Austin by putting the ankle lock on TJP leading to a human centipede between the three of submissions with Austin the only one not getting a hold on.
Sick looking piledriver that looked almost like a pedigree variation from Josh Alexander but Austin breaks the pin up.
Divine Intervention on Austin after TJP is sent into Fulton on the outside to get the pinfall victory and become the NEW X Division Champion! Great match.

We are seeing a video promo from Violent by Design to explain the injury replacement for Eric Young in tonight’s match. They were talking to the replacement off screen. Interested who it will be.

JAMES STORM, EDDIE EDWARDS, CHRIS SABIN & WILLIE MACK VS. VIOLENT BY DESIGN (JOE DOERING, DEANER RHINO & W MORRISSEY) W/ ERIC YOUNG
Can’t help but head bang to Eddie Edwards entrance music.
Just the four coming out right now with the fourth partner still a mystery.
W Morrissey is your mystery partner which is the new name for Big Cass!
Morrissey comes in and takes out everyone after Storm begs for him to tag in. He’s looking good here right now.
Some of Willie Mack’s look a lot more flashy than effective.
Deaner looking really strong while taking on Sabin and Mack but that only lasts for a few seconds.
Sabin supersplex to Deaner off the top turnbuckle to the crowd of competitors on the outside.
Nice stare off between Mack and Morrissey with Mack being cool but ends up getting hit by the River Crossing by Morrissey who gets the pinfall victory.
Post match, Morrissey continues the attack until standing alone in the ring with Violent by Design standing on the stage behind him in a cool shot.

BRIAN MYERS VS. MATT CARDONA
What the heck is Matt Cardona wearing? Is this Turtles inspired or something?
Handshake offered by Cardona, Myers responds with a middle finger but gets a fist to the jaw for it.
All Myers so far after getting the advantage by tripping up Cardona at the ropes.
Cardona makes the comeback and misses another attempt for the reboot before hitting it as Myers was walking on the outside. Leads to a Radio Silence on the ramp.
What a loud sounding Spear from Myers on Cardona on the outside before hitting the flying elbow but Matt kicks out of the pin attempt.
Cardona’s turn to get a close pin attempt after an unprettier.
Cardona buckles his knee after Myers avoids the Radio Silence in the ring and we see the ref going for the X. Hope they aren’t using that in a story.
Myers helps Cardona up before hitting a clothesline before hitting another and getting the pin.
Post match, Myers celebrates as Cardona holds his knee and I suspect this is their way to write out Cardona for a bit.

Gia Miller is interviewing Tony Khan, Jerry Lynn, Tony Schiavone and Aubrey Edwards. Scott D’Amore comes in with Hebner and TK calls out how no Hebner has screwed someone.
They make it two referees for tonight as we always expected.

FIRE N FLAVA (KIERA HOGAN & TASHA STEELZ) VS. JORDYNNE GRACE & RACHEL ELLERING W/ JAZZ – IMPACT KNOCKOUTS TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Does anyone else need a second to compose themselves after Fire N Flava come out?
Rachel Ellering stops during her entrance to introduce their new manager, Jazz.
Tasha Steelz appears to be the only one not in blue for this match.
Can be call Grace and Ellering “Power & Power” with the amount of power they are both showing off?
Rachel Ellering looking great in this one. Hard to believe it has taken this long for her to be in Impact. Loved she saw Tasha and stopped the move to Kiera to knock her off the ring apron before hitting the move on Kiera.
Great series of double team back and forth between the two teams. Looked so fluid.
Grace looks like she may have hurt her left thigh or leg but she is continuing the match.
Kiera gets hit with the sit out powerbomb by Rachel Ellering to get the pinfall victory and become NEW Knockouts Tag Team Champions.

TREY MIGUEL VS. SAMI CALLIHAN – LAST MAN STANDING MATCH
At least Trey is not a lacky to MSK in NXT right now, right?
Sami just grabs Trey right away and tosses him over the top rope and sends him to the floor. Then he tells the ref to start the count. Nice to see that in a Last Man Standing match.
Trey’s body is getting punished in this one. Sami is trying to use anything and everything.
Sami has thrown everything but the kitchen sink has been thrown into the ring here.
Trey making a comeback now sending Sami into the pile of chairs after moving out of Sami’s attempt to hit him in the head with the tool.
Trey just got bodyslammed on to the LEGS of the table and not the table itself.
Piledriver from Sami off the turnbuckles to the set up table but the table didn’t break. My neck is hurting after that.
Sami counters by grabbing the crotch of Trey before piledriving him on to the steps and putting the steps on Trey.
Trey appears from behind Sami to hit a running Ace Cutter off the apron through the table!
Trey just got up at 9 while Sami couldn’t pull himself up and Trey gets the win in this great match.

Gia Miller is interviewing Rich Swann about the Main Event tonight and saying no mind games will stop his match tonight.
Have to disagree with Rich that this is Kenny’s biggest match.

FINJUICE (DAVID FINLAY & JUICE ROINSON) VS. THE GOOD BROTHERS (KARL ANDERSON & DOC GALLOWS) – IMPACT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
What is Doc Gallows wearing tonight? Are they upping the 80s Teen Comedy Jock stereotype?
I really don’t see this being a title change with the two previous title matches resulting in title changes.
FinJuice looking strong so far over the start of the match.
Juice Robinson still looks so different compared to his NXT persona. Just hard to believe it is the same guy.
Robinson finally gets the hot tag and is taking it to Karl Anderson in the ring and Gallows on the outside before giving D’Lo a high five at the commentary table.
So obvious that Gallows was going over the ropes when he braced himself seconds before.
Good Brothers are going for the Magic Killer but Finlay stops it and Robinson rolls up Gallows to get the pinfall victory and retain.

Gia Miller is trying to get an interview with Kenny Omega but Don Callis comes out of the dressing room as Kenny is obviously busy.
Don Callis says there is no lower form of life than a Professional Wrestler. Isn’t he a former pro wrestler?

TENILLE DASHWOOD W/ KALEB WITH A K VS. DEONNA PURRAZZO W/ KIMBER LEE & SUSAN – IMPACT KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Is Tenille friends with MJF? She comes our with almost a burberry style gear.
Great to see Tenille not doing her usual posing as it is a great way to show how important this match is for her.
Sounded like they turned down the crowd noise at the beginning of this match.
Deonna is the first to gain complete control of the match as she now slowly starts to break down Tenille.
Tenille gets the trantula in and holds it for the full four count.
Great selling from Deonna on the boot from Tenille trying to fight Deonna off.
Tenille hits two of her Corner Crossbody’s to Deonna but only gets a two count on the pin attempt.
Tenille gets the Muta Lock on to make me extremely happy. Susan and Kimber get on the apron until Kaleb pulls him off and they brawl.
What a sick Spotlight Kick to Deonna with Kimber Lee having to pull Tenille out of the ring to break the pin.
Tenille is able to fight out of the Fujiwar Armbar but not able to regain the advantage.
Queen’s Gambit from Deonna Purrazzo who then gets the pinfall victory to retain.
Post match, the three beat down Tenille until Taylor Wilde’s music hits and she comes out to get in the ring and take out Kimber and Susan.

We are now getting the first of a million promos to promote Slammiversary that show faces of all those WWE releases that formerly worked for Impact. Here we go again.

KENNY OMEGA W/ DON CALLIS, DOC GALLOWS & KARL ANDERSON VS. RICH SWANN W/ EDDIE EDWARDS & WILLIE MACK – AEW WORLD, IMPACT WORLD & TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE VS. TITLE MATCH
So great to hear Mauro calling Pro Wrestling once again. He is doing what God put him on this earth to do, be the best Play by Play Person today.
Reminder that we have Brian Hebner AND Aubrey Edwards as the referee’s for this one.
Callis stops Penzer during the introductions to do Kenny’s intro before Penzar comes back for Rich Swann’s.
You know it is a big deal when it requires two referee’s to hold up the belts on the line.
Can you believe that Striker actually went down the list of all the World Champions from the different companies?
Phoenix Splash variation from Swann to Omega on the outside looked beautiful.
Lots of sick sounding leg slaps from Rich Swann as he is kicking the back of Omega.
Anyone else just in awe getting to hear Mauro calling a pro wrestling match again?
Swann hurts his neck falling on his head trying to do the springboard and now Omega is focusing all offense on the neck of Swann. Omega even pulls out the buckle bomb.
Swann starts no selling the forearms to his back from Omega before hitting a series of slaps.
Looks like the slipped coming off the top turnbuckle but Omega was thankfully able to flip enough.
What a powerful kick by Omega sending Swann flying into the corner. Great selling from Swann on that one.
V Trigger from Omega but Swann blocks the One Winged Angel so Omega hits a sweet looking spinning kick to the back of Swann’s neck.
That is the second time a move has come off looking terrible from the top turnbuckle. They need to stop trying them if they can’t hit them.
Swann is finally able to stop the Snap Dragon on the third one by Omega.
Omega pulls Hebner into the cutter from Swann taking him out putting Aubrey into the ring.
Omega has brought a chair in to the ring and Aubrey is having none of it and takes it away.
Hebner is back up now so the Cutter looks pretty weak since it can’t even keep a referee down for long.
Swann going for the Phoenix Splash but Omega moves and hits the V Trigger and then goes for the One Winged Angel but has to turn it into a suplex.
Omega and Swann are pulling out all the stops here now that the ref is fulling back.
What sick V Triggers to Swann who is on his knees but Swann misses the third attempt.
Omega hits the third V Trigger with Swann right in front of Eddie and Willie but Swann is still able to start fighting back.
Another V Trigger and One Winged Angel and Kenny Omega gets the pinfall victory to win the Impact World Championship without funny business.
Anyone else notice the side plate on the TNA World Heavyweight Championship coming off during the post match celebration?
