Since ROH Final Battle had been announced, Samoa Joe has been the literal poster boy for the PPV. Since then we have seen Joe capture the TNT Championship and hold both the ROH and AEW Television Championships. This is all part of a story with Wardlow feuding with Samoa Joe. When Joe won the TNT Championship without pinning Wardlow and Wardlow continued to come for Joe, it made perfect sense that he would want to try to take Joe’s championship in a One-on-One match at Final Battle. This seemed the logical direction until we got Juice Robinson appearing unceremoniously on our screens in a pretaped video where we find out he has signed with AEW and is wanting to make an impact by going after Joe’s ROH TV Championship at Final Battle. How do you promote an entire PPV with someone and give them what comes off as nothing more than a throwaway match announced just 8 days before the PPV itself? No offense to Juice Robinson who is an excellent wrestler and will likely deliver an amazing match with Joe, it just has zero build with only a few days to make everything come together. This instantly made me go from being very excited for Final Battle to now wondering if there is any point in ordering it if there are only one or two real stories being told at the PPV.
Do you feel this is the best matchup to put Samoa Joe in at Final Battle after putting his face all over the PPV?
Are you a fan of Juice Robinson’s work in NJPW and Impact Wrestling?
What did you think of Rampage tonight? Did you enjoy the Lumberjack match? Do you think Serpentico or Ortiz will be the next to join the House of Black?
